Pro Media Tools 1.6 - Auto Transfer metadata overhaul and improved RED support

We've just released Pro Media Tools 1.6, a major update to our suite of media management tools for video professionals.

The focus of this release was our camera memory card offloading tool, Auto Transfer.

Reel detection

Auto Transfer will now automatically detect the reel name from RED volumes so you don't have to enter it manually. If you add leading zeroes (e.g. 001) to the default reel number it will now respect them when detecting or incrementing the reel number.

Metadata overhaul

We've made several significant changes to metadata handling in Auto Transfer 1.6. The items in the Metadata pane control the folder structure that the volume will be copied to on the destination drive(s). You can now drag and drop these items to easily change the folder structure. You can also choose to prepend the item's title in front of its numeric value, e.g. "Day 1".

The default folder structure has changed to be "Day [day] > [reel]" because we feel this is more logical, although you can of course change it to whatever you want.

Additionally, when automatically incrementing the Day field, a new day is now considered to start at 5am instead of midnight to allow for shoots that continue into the early hours of the morning.

QT Edit batch timecode improvements

We've also improved QT Edit to allow you to edit the timecode of a batch of movies individually without modifying their reels. Formerly the two had to be modified at the same time.

Other changes

  • Auto Transfer - Offline destinations are now indicated as offline in the Destinations pane
  • Auto Transfer - Metadata folder structure preview now shows values rather than field names
  • Auto Transfer - Fixed an issue where some cards may not appear in the list
  • Auto Transfer - Fixed an issue where a cancelled transfer couldn't be restarted
  • Auto Transfer - Prevented system sleep during transfers
  • Edit Detector - Improved FCPX compatibility
  • Video Check - Improved FCPX compatibility
  • Various other bug fixes, tweaks and improvements
